Cloud Services
Are you considering using cloud services to meet some of your application needs? Are you still
struggling to figure out what this "cloud" thing is all about? Cloud solutions range from
hosted email to full "Desktop as a Service" (DaaS) solutions where you no longer have to
maintain servers on site and your hosted desktop is availble from anywhere you have an Internet
connection.
Unfortunately, the "C-word" has been hyped as the ultimate solution to everything. It has
reached the point where the first question you have to ask is, "When you say 'cloud,' what,
exactly, do you mean?
We can help you through the fog to some solutions that can actually bring value to your business.
Here are just a few ideas:
Moose Logic Desktop as a Service
Moose Logic is now offering a full Desktop as a Service (DaaS) to our customers who don't want
any on-site server infrastructure anymore. The Moose Logic Cloud Desktop is hosted in
a state-of-the-art SAS 70 Type II / SSAE 16 certified data center, and all systems and data are replicated
to a second data center several hundred miles away. Even if the primary data center is completely
destroyed, we can be up and running in the alternate site within approximately two hours.
Our offering includes Microsoft's productivity applications, including the Office Suite, Visio, and Project,
as well as hosted Exchange, optional hosted SharePoint, support for BlackBerry devices, and support for
your third-party applications as well.
By leveraging the latest release of Citrix XenApp on Windows Server 2008 R2, we can deliver a Windows 7-like
experience with performance that is, in most cases, indistinguishable from a local PC.
Hosted Exchange
The easiest way to start putting your business in the cloud is to leverage a hosted email service. Our
position is that there are very few business scenarios these days that would justify building an on-premise
Exchange infrastructure if you don't already have one. So the next time you're considering an upgrade,
or if you're just tired of maintaining your existing server, talk to us about the range of hosted Exchange
options we can offer you.
Off-Site Backup
Moose Logic has a number of partnerships and service offerings that can help get a copy of your data off site, and/or just
make it easier to access your data from multiple locations and share it with others:
- Through our partnership with Intronis, we can offer encrypted file and folder backups of your critical server
date to two geographically separated data centers.
- Trend Micro's SafeSync is a great tool
for backing up files and folders on individual PCs - particularly notebooks that are seldom, if ever,
connected to the corporate network. With SafeSync, files are pushed up to Trend Micro's data center, and
automatically synchronized across multiple client devices - PCs, notebooks, Macs, iOS devices, and Android
devices. You can create team folders with granular permissions to share files with co-workers, and even
email a link to a file instead of attaching the file to a message.
- System Center Data Protection Manager can
work in a primary/secondary pair such that your primary, on-site DPM server can transmit copies of your
most critical data to a secondary DPM server in another location. Don't have another location? We can
help you provision one on a public cloud such as Amazon's EC3.
